The birth centenary of Ila Mitra, the legendary leader of the Tebhaga movement or the Santal peasant revolt, was in 2025. To commemorate the birth centenary of this equally courageous leader, we have published a commemorative book titled 'The Legendary Leader of the Santal Peasant Revolt Against Deprivation and Discrimination - Ila Mitra', written by renowned Bangladeshi writers, essayists, poets, authors, researchers, and development activists. Today, February 16, 2026, on the occasion of the birth centenary of the legendary leader of the Santal Peasant Revolt, Ila Mitra, the official unveiling of the book and a discussion meeting have been organized jointly by the Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD) and Tangan Prakash at the National Museum's Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium. In the discussion, prominent economist Anu Muhammad, former professor of Jahangir Nagar University; prominent women's leader and president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Dr. Fawzia Muslim; poet and journalist Sohrab Hasan; Mujahidul Islam Selim, former president, Communist Party of Bangladesh; writer, researcher and development activist Pavel Partha; Khokon Sweeten Murmu of National Indigenous Peoples Council, among others, discussed the life of Ila Mitra in a discussion. The program was moderated by Khushi Kabir, coordinator of Nijera Kari.
